EACD 2026: Upholstery and Sewing Workshops at NORKI

From Heart to Craftsmanship: Immersion at Norki During EACD and the April 2026 Open House

On the occasion of the European Artistic Days of Crafts (Journées Européennes des Métiers d’Art, JEMA), the public is invited to explore the behind-the-scenes world of artisanal creation: to understand the gestures, meet the artisans, and grasp what brings handcrafted objects to life.

At Norki, a French home decor and furniture Maison recognized as an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV), this immersion takes on its full meaning. In the workshops in Molsheim, Alsace, the theme “With heart and soul” is lived daily, at the rhythm of hands shaping materials and the dedication given to every detail.

European Artistic Days of Crafts: Immersion into Norki’s Expertise

During EACD, the doors of Norki’s workshop open to the public for an experience that is authentic, educational, and human. Visitors are welcomed at 40 route Écospace, Molsheim, in a unique space where all the Maison’s know-how is gathered.

Touring the workshops allows visitors to understand how a French artisanal manufacturing operation is organized, follow the complete journey of a creation—from raw material to finished object—and appreciate the diversity of crafts coexisting within the Maison.

The workshop’s artisans are at the heart of this encounter. Present throughout the event, they share their daily routines, explain their techniques, and perform live demonstrations.

Upholstery, fur sewing, Lunéville embroidery, working with hides and furs—each craft is presented with the same dedication and pride. The aim is not to rank the crafts, but to show their complementarity and the constant dialogue that allows unique decoration and furniture pieces to come to life.

Watching a Lunéville embroidery in progress, understanding the steps of fur sewing, or observing the upholstery of a chair allows visitors to grasp the complexity, precision, and time required for artisanal production. The public thus discovers the tangible meaning of Made in France, embodied by a company rooted in its territory and recognized for the excellence of its craftsmanship.

Norki Open House – April 11-12, 2026: Experiencing “With heart and soul”

The European Artistic Days of Crafts serve as an initial point of encounter. To go further in sharing, Norki is organizing two open house days on April 11 and 12, 2026, in its Molsheim workshops.

During these days, visitors are no longer merely spectators but active participants. Hands-on workshops allow them to experience “With heart and soul” firsthand. Guided by the Maison’s artisans, participants can try making a cushion or a pouch, learn the basics of chair upholstery, and attend Lunéville embroidery demonstrations.

These practical experiences provide an intimate understanding of the gestures, tools, and time necessary for high-end artisanal production. They cater to a wide and curious audience: decoration enthusiasts, craft lovers, families, as well as professionals in interior design and architecture.

For Norki, opening its workshops and offering participatory experiences is a concrete way to preserve and transmit know-how. Transmission is not just showing a gesture: it is explaining its meaning, history, and purpose, and inspiring a desire to protect these excellence-driven crafts in an increasingly standardized world.

These April 2026 open house events fully reflect the company’s overall approach, which places humans, materials, and time at the heart of its project. They extend the spirit of JEMA by offering a deep, immersive experience, faithful to the values of an EPV-labeled company committed to promoting French craftsmanship.

In Molsheim, at Norki, “With heart and soul” is shared and passed on through gestures, words, and experience. By participating in EACD and then the April open house, the public is invited into a home where craftsmanship is alive, creation is collective, and every object tells a story shaped by hand.
