A Haute Couture Cabinet of Curiosities Facing the Tuileries

Just a stone’s throw from the Jardin des Tuileries, a 150 m² apartment rises like a bold manifesto of taste and the French art de vivre. Paris pours in through every window, and yet the true spectacle unfolds within. A theatrical, precious, almost cinematic staging, imagined by a passionate client with a love for rare materials, daring design, and unexpected colour combinations.

A Living Art Gallery

This is not an ordinary apartment – it is a lived-in art gallery. Conceived as a contemporary cabinet of curiosities, every room, every object, every material tells a story. The client, a great admirer of design and fashion, wanted her interior to have a vibrant soul – a visual narrative where textures, colours, and iconic pieces echo one another in a harmony orchestrated with flair.

The aim? An interior that dares, that seduces, that provokes – all while embodying an unmistakably French elegance: that of reimagined private mansions, discreet yet confident luxury, and classical codes brilliantly subverted.

The Living Room: A Stage for Contemporary Art

From the moment you enter the living room, the tone is set: a large curved sofa, dressed in beige-grey fabric with 1950s lines, converses with a monumental abstract work bursting with chromatic movement by the artist Bernard Frize. On this sculptural sofa, genuine Orylag fur cushions created by our Maison are scattered like tactile jewels. This detail, subtle yet essential, captures the client’s philosophy: to gift her interior with precious touches without ever lapsing into ostentation.

At the centre, an organically shaped coffee table blends metal and glass – a baroque Italian design by Vincenzo De Cotiis. Its reflective surface captures daylight in a play of almost liquid brilliance.

But the masterpiece in this living room is undoubtedly the spectacular smoked blown-glass lamp-sculpture by Nacho Carbonell, resting on a mineral base seemingly hewn from rock. This poetic, brutalist, dreamlike light fixture transforms light into living matter. More than mere lighting – it is an immersive work of art.

Above, a black organic chandelier by Frederik Molenschot draws the eye. Its sinuous structure, almost plant-like, evokes tangled ivy or the neural branches of an aesthetic intelligence. This contemporary chandelier, with its multiple light sources, creates a gentle, shifting atmosphere – like an indoor starry sky.

The Bedroom: A Confidential and Precious Suite

In the main bedroom, sensuality reigns. The bed, pristine and dressed in bespoke embroidered sheets, is crowned by an emerald green tinted fox fur throw, also by Norki. A true textile statement, this unique piece asserts itself as a manifesto of refinement. Tailored in a deep, jewel-toned green, it transforms the bedroom into a theatrical cocoon – a totally intentional “wow effect”.

Far from the expected austerity of many high-end bedrooms, here the boldness lies in the details: blown-glass vases in acid hues, abstract sculptures and patinated bronze female busts by Atelier Van Lieshout, opulent bouquets… All set upon a period white marble fireplace topped with a gilded mirror adorned with floral mouldings – the very image of mastered opulence.

Flanking the bed, black bedside tables with twisted legs create a contrast against the white linens. Above the headboard, two framed text pieces bring a conceptual edge – a literary, almost museum-like reference that reminds us this apartment is also a space of culture.

A Jewel of Parisian Elegance

No portrait of this apartment would be complete without mention of the pale blond herringbone parquet, quintessentially Parisian, which runs throughout every room. It acts as a unifying thread, a warm backdrop to this eclectic universe. Its understated classicism contrasts with luxurious materials like fur, brass, and marble, creating a subtle balance between heritage and modernity.

The period mouldings, ornate ceiling, and tall windows draped in pearl-grey curtains recall traditional Haussmannian codes – yet these are tastefully disrupted. This is a heritage space, yes – but one resolutely contemporary, where the past inspires without ever restricting.

A Personal and Sensitive Manifesto – The Client’s Brief

The client behind this refined scene had a clear brief: to transform the apartment into a private art gallery – a highly personalised living space, vibrant with materials, colours, and emotion. She sought a bespoke décor made of genuine furs, rare design pieces, bold colours, and sculptural volumes.

The result: a space both lived-in and iconic – an exceptional setting like no other. A living, sensitive, tactile apartment – where every corner invites contemplation, and every object is a treasure.
