Workshop Lookbook: Discovering the Signature Materials of Maison Norki

Today we open this lookbook as one might gently push open the door of a Workshop, still carrying the scent of yesterday’s work, where the clinking of tools and the hum of sewing machines create a perfect harmony. Light glides across the worktables, caresses the hides, and lingers on the furs awaiting their metamorphosis. Entering the world of Maison Norki is first about getting to know the materials—understanding their language and their character. It means letting yourself be guided by what they express, even before a project begins to take shape.
In this lookbook, we move through textures and colours, observing nuances and pausing on each gesture. The signature materials of our Maison become the lands of a singular territory where every creation finds its source.

Norki transforms sheepskin and fur into high-end decorative items.

Sheepskin, shearling, cowhide: living and multifaceted materials

Resting a hand on a sheepskin, still swollen with softness—this material is one of Norki’s favourites. Its reassuring natural feel, its warmth, and its density make it an ideal companion for interiors that wish to tell something true. Shearling, whether velour or curly, offers a finer, almost silky texture. Within its delicate fibers lies a discreet elegance, a refinement that does not seek attention yet reveals itself to those who know how to look.
Cowhides reveal another facet—more graphic, more vibrant. Their smooth surface, almost mirror-like depending on the light, adds a contemporary touch to the pieces they adorn. Each hide seems to carry a story, an energy, as if it had kept a fragment of the life that once animated it.

Leather as a vector of timelessness

Further into the Workshop, a row of carefully aligned leathers reminds us that this material is a work of patience and mastery. Leather has a unique way of evolving with time—developing a patina, strengthening, becoming even more itself. In our creations, it is by turns enveloping, robust, supple, or bold.
It retains a secret, almost silent nobility, yet instantly reveals itself when dressing a piece of furniture or seating. Worked through sheathing or stitching, it shapes the object and asserts its presence within a space.

Genuine furs and their natural radiance

Furs—fascinating in their movement even when motionless. They attract light, repel it, and diffract it through their natural reflections. Some are long and airy, others short and dense, yet all possess a unique personality. Their authenticity is even more precious as they come from their native breeding regions, carefully selected for hair quality and adherence to ethical standards.
In our Workshop, furs become expressive pieces. They transform into sumptuous throws, generous cushions, and rugs that seem to invite touch. They bring depth and movement to projects, like a slow breath in a space that might otherwise feel too restrained.

An infinity of colours for an infinity of stories

Turn the page of this lookbook and the colour palette spreads out almost by itself. More than two hundred available shades—a limitless spectrum allowing us to sculpt the material according to our intent. We love observing the subtle reactions of the hides as they take on colour. Some seem to drink the pigments; others reflect them more softly.
White, in its natural shade, reveals a delicate beige. Black, often considered absolute, appears here punctuated with brown nuances, offering an unexpected depth. Even furs, usually loyal to their natural brilliance, accept dyeing and adapt to the desires of the most personalized projects.
Personalizing a piece then becomes an act of expression. Colours are handled like a painter’s palette, seeking the perfect harmony between material, light, and space.

Origins as an ethical foundation

The origins of the material—this is an essential part of our Maison’s story. The hides are by-products of the French food industry, anchoring our work in a responsible approach. Nothing is sourced for creation alone. We elevate what already exists, giving a second life to a noble and durable material.
As for the furs, they come from their original breeding regions. Their selection is rigorous, attentive to both quality and ethical standards. This transparency of origin is an immutable signature of the Maison—a commitment guiding each of our creations.

Natural nuances: the sincerest expression of materials

Finally, their natural nuances are never perfectly smooth, never entirely predictable. A variation in tone, a subtle pattern, a particular sheen. These small irregularities are the mark of authenticity—seeking not perfection, but truth.
They make every piece unique. Even when two creations resemble one another, their nuances tell different stories. This is the charm of artisanal work, where the gesture honours the material instead of constraining it.
