Gamla Berlin Armchair by Carl Malmsten – Circa 1930

Bumling Table by Anders Pehrson – Circa 1955

“Break all edges well,” advised the designer behind these armchairs with rounded and naturally elegant forms. Each seat, carefully upholstered in leather in our workshop, stands out by its artisanal sophistication. These unique pieces fit equally well in the refined bedroom of a Haussmannian apartment or the prestigious lounge of a palace in Gstaad.

Carl Malmsten, a Swedish architect-designer, was a fervent advocate of traditional craftsmanship, defying the rigid codes of functionalism dominant in his time. A passionate teacher, he explored alternative methods to create handmade furniture, prioritizing quality and durability.

For him, furniture was not a mere object but a faithful companion, with the primary mission to “serve well” its users. His rich and diverse work addresses both royal palaces and modest homes, offering functional, harmonious furniture designed to promote well-being in every room — kitchen, bedroom, or living room.

With its clean lines and subtle lighting, this coffee table goes beyond mere furniture to become a true centerpiece, rich in history and sophistication. It embodies the refined charm of an era where every detail was designed to captivate and dazzle.

About the Designer
Born in 1912 in Sweden, Anders Pehrson combined an engineering education in Gothenburg with a remarkable career in industrial design. As Head of Design at Philips, he later took the helm of the renowned lighting house Atelje Lyktan, helping to elevate the brand’s international reputation through his talent and visionary approach.
