WORKSHOP SECRET
The Siesta armchair and ottoman, designed by Svante Skogh in the 1950s, are iconic examples of Scandinavian design, blending comfort, elegance, and simplicity. Inspired by Nordic design principles, Skogh aimed to create a chair that was both functional and aesthetic, while providing ultimate comfort. The idea was to craft a piece that would instantly embrace the sitter, offering a place to relax and unwind, like a cozy cocoon.
The Siesta armchair is distinguished by its high, slightly reclined backrest, which provides excellent support, as well as its wide, comfortable armrests. Covered in soft sheepskin in a sandy hue, it exudes warmth and luxury while remaining natural and soothing. The design, both modern and timeless, incorporates clean lines and meticulous attention to detail.
The matching ottoman, designed to rest your feet, complements the chair perfectly. Svante Skogh was a Swedish designer born in 1908. He studied at the Konstfack School of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm.
Svante Skogh is best known for his mid-century designs produced by Seffle. Many of his designs are now highly sought-after on the vintage market. Like many of his modern Scandinavian contemporaries, Skogh designed furniture (coffee tables, dining tables, seating and storage solutions) using richly grained wood mixed with soft, supple fabrics such as leather.
