WORKSHOP SECRET
Oiva Parviainen is the first Lepokalusto designer to graduate from the School of Arts and Design. This talented young interior designer joined Lepokalusto immediately after completing his studies. His new collection, including the ‘Susanna’ chair, quickly captured the attention of the press.
Lahden Lepokalusto, founded in 1953 in response to the needs of post-war reconstruction and the furnishing of homes for a period of prosperity, began life as Lahden Lepokalusto Oy. The factory initially produced benders, sofa-beds and deckchairs. Since 1958, Lepo has worked with renowned interior designers, and from the early 1960s, production was increasingly geared towards furnishing public spaces. Their iconic designs include the Moderno chair series (1958-62) by Professor Yrjö Kukkapuro and the Polaire collection (1965) by interior designer Esko Pajamies, which are still part of the Lepo collection.
