WORKSHOP SECRET

The Model 402 armchair by Alvar Aalto was designed in the 1930s, a time when the Finnish designer aimed to merge functionality, comfort, and aesthetics. Inspired by nature and organic curves, Aalto used innovative materials for the time, particularly bent plywood, which he mastered through pioneering manufacturing techniques. This chair, both simple and refined, reflects Aalto's humanistic approach, creating objects that were accessible, comfortable, and in harmony with their surroundings. The birch wood structure is paired with an ergonomic design, offering excellent support. The Model 402 exemplifies the balance between modernity and tradition, characteristic of functionalism and Scandinavian design. ALVAR AALTO (1898 – 1976)

An essential figure in Finnish design, he sought throughout his career to establish a true harmony between aesthetics, functionality, and respect for the environment.
