WORKSHOP SECRET
Alongside the iconic Model 412 'Karuselli,' the 418 chair was part of a family of innovative and ergonomic designs inspired by Oli Borg's 1958 physiology conference.
The goal of these designs was to highlight the importance of ergonomics and human anatomy while achieving maximum seating comfort without compromising on design.
Yrjö Kukkapuro is a Finnish interior architect and furniture designer. He is one of Finland's most renowned and award-winning furniture designers and a leading modernist in Finnish furniture design. Kukkapuro's design work is based on both aesthetic and functional innovation, user experience, and ergonomics.
During his exceptionally long career of over 60 years, he has created groundbreaking furniture that has stood the test of time and become modern classics. Pieces designed by Kukkapuro are part of the permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
