WORKSHOP SECRET
Swan perfectly embodies the ideal of ‘total design’, with its rounded forms contrasting with the taut, horizontal and vertical lines of the Royal SAS Hotel. It resulted from an innovative technique pioneered by Jacobsen: a very hard foam skeleton padded and covered in shearling or leather.
Founded in 1872 in Copenhagen by cabinetmaker Fritz Hansen, the company has become a symbol of Danish design through its visionary collaborations with iconic designers such as Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjærholm, Verner Panton, and Hans J. Wegner. Together, they helped redefine modern furniture design.
