Swedish designer Lennart Bender worked for major design companies in Sweden and abroad during the 20th century, including Electrolux, Ericsson, and Sony. He also taught industrial design at Konstfack University in Stockholm for several years. Bender is best known for his furniture creations, which, like this “Partner” armchair, stand out for their elegant simplicity and practical functionality.
This model features a distinctive silhouette that immediately draws the eye. Its inclined backrest, rounded armrests, and open base create a welcoming and comfortable presence. Swedish design is renowned for its minimalism, with a focus on functionality and clean lines—particularly in furniture. These principles, deeply rooted in Scandinavian culture, translate into a timeless aesthetic. The “Partner” armchair embodies this approach perfectly, with its harmonious and balanced structure, and green bouclé fabric upholstery that enhances its cosy yet refined character. The generously padded cushions provide optimal comfort. This artisanal upholstery work by Norki gives the armchair a sculptural, almost artistic presence, while ensuring lasting stability.
Lennart Bender received numerous awards for his work, including the prestigious Red Dot Award, the Good Design Award, and the Swedish Design Award. He is considered one of Sweden's most influential designers and played a key role in the success of Ulferts Möbler, alongside fellow Swedish designer Arne Norell.
Today, Ulferts Möbler remains a family-owned company, now run by the third generation of the Ulferts family. The company proudly continues its legacy of Swedish quality, innovation, and design, producing high-end furniture for customers around the world.
