Our seats are made of hides and furs. These are living materials that evolve over time. Hide is a naturally impermeable material which makes it very easy to clean.
Vacuuming your seat regularly. If stained, scrub the area with cold water only, without detergent or washing powder, you will risk changing the integrity of our products.
If your furniture has deteriorated, our workshop is able to respond to your request for your product repair and restoration. We invite you to contact our sales department.
Paying attention to where you place your seat will contribute to its longevity. It should be protected from damp and prolonged exposure to light.
Choose natural colours if you are exposed to strong sunlight, especially in the mountains, as they do not fade. If you opt for tinted skins, install anti-UV filters on the windows.
However, our tinted hides may lose colour saturation and fade slightly over time.
WORKSHOP SECRET
To create what he envisioned as “the most comfortable chair in the world,” Yrjö Kukkapuro lay across a mesh metal grid, allowing his shoulders, back, and neck to naturally imprint themselves into the form. This initial mold was then mounted on a tubular steel frame and covered with a plaster-soaked fabric shell. Inspired by the molded fiberglass chairs he admired from Saarinen and Eames in design magazines, Kukkapuro eventually laminated his own fiberglass shell. The result: a chair clad in leather, fixed on a pivoting metal base—an archetype of modernism that masterfully blends material, function, and sculptural form.
Born in 1933, Yrjö Kukkapuro is a leading figure in Finnish design. A graduate of the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki, he is known for his uncompromising commitment to ergonomic innovation and modernist aesthetics. Kukkapuro’s creations—such as the Saturn, Karuselli, M418 and Remmi chairs—embody his lifelong pursuit of harmony between form and function.
