Carl Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs is a Finnish architect and interior designer known for his dedication to high-quality craftsmanship and interior design. His creations are characterized by functionality, aesthetic appeal marked by clean lines, the use of natural materials and meticulous attention to detail.
In 1952, he established his own company, Hiort Tuote Puunveisto, where he developed iconic sofa and armchair models such as the Siesta, which remains one of his most well-known creations.
In addition to his contributions to design, Carl Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs was involved in education, contributing to the evolution of Finnish design during his time. His expertise was particularly evident in his ability to bend plywood in three dimensions, creating magnificent backrests with ears. His design approach, emphasizing seating comfort and beauty from all angles, has left a lasting mark in the field of design, continuing to inspire contemporary designers.
